(KNSI) - Although most schools start this week, St. Cloud Tech's volleyball squad has been playing for a couple weeks already.

Now that the Tigers get to break in their new floor, they will look toward leaders like Karissa Lintgen to ensure this season is memorable.

Lintgen is averaging four kills, three digs and getting at least one ace per set this young season and was just voted as one of the captains.

Although Lintgen's stats are exactly what a coach loves to see, head coach Kristy Husen is most impressed with her leadership skills.

"Karissa is just an awesome all-around player; she's kind of steady Eddy on the court, she takes the lead out there both vocally as well as physically, she wants the ball."

Husen believes Lintgen and junior captain Rachel Matz (pictured below, last photo) provide the Tech Tigers with the exactly what the team needs to get to where they want to be as a team.

"We have strong leadership this year going with [Karissa] and [Rachel]; they are very positive, they are just good people, energetic, motivated and they are just great to work with."

The Tech Tigers hope to find the win column this week as they play their very first game on their new court tomorrow night, September 3rd at 7:00 p.m. against Alexandria.

Congratulations, Karissa and good luck to you and the Tech Tigers Volleyball Team this season and beyond!
