(KNSI) - Governor Tim Walz announced on Thursday a new childcare grant, run by the Minnesota Initiative Foundations, to support childcare providers that support essential worker families.
The grant totals 300,000, and the foundations are working to secure additional funding.
Childcare providers can apply for financial support of up to 3,000 dollars as long as they care for children aged newborn to 5 years of essential workers.
Walz says these foundations responded to his call for much-needed support in this sector, adding, "in times of normal times and in times of crisis, they're there, and I want to thank you."
