(KNSI) - The list of the best public high schools in the country as named by U.S. News and World Report is out and two Central Minnesota schools were ranked in the top 100.

Judges looked at student teacher ratios, math and reading proficiency as well as college readiness and graduation rates to make the determinations.

Sartell High School was ranked number 20 in the state. Sartell has 1,191 students in their total enrollment and a 16 to 1 student teacher ratio.

  • 69 percent of students at Sartell either meet or exceed the standards for math proficiency.
  • 76 percent of students meet or exceed the standards for reading proficiency.
  • 97 percent graduation rate.

Sartell scored in the 87.8th percentile nationally for scoring on college level exams.

In comprehensive assessment tests measuring overall student performance on state required testing, Sartell scored in the 95.7th percentile. Students who fell into the underserved category scored in the 100th percentile.

The other area school in the top 100 was Sauk Rapids Rice coming in at number 57.

Sauk Rapids Rice has a total enrollment of 1,322 students and an 18 to 1 student teacher ratio.

  • 54 percent of students at SRR either meet or exceed the standards for math proficiency.
  • 68 percent of students meet or exceed the standards for reading proficiency.
  • 93 percent graduation rate.

SRR scored in the 77.3th national percentile when it came to college level exams.

In comprehensive assessment tests, SRR scored in the 78.8th percentile. When it came to underserved students, they scored in the 100th percentile.

St. Cloud Tech ranked number 132 in the state.

They have a total enrollment of 1,493 students with a 20 to 1 student teacher ratio.

  • 38 percent of students meet or exceed the standards for math proficiency.
  • 52 percent of the students meet or exceed the reading proficiency standards.
  • 86 percent graduation rate

Tech scored in the 76.4th national percentile when it came to college level exams.

Tech scored in the 26th percentile for comprehensive assessment tests. When it came to underserved students, they scored in the 7th percentile. The school is still considered somewhat above expectations when it comes to Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment scores.

St. Cloud Apollo ranked number 181 in the state.

They have a total enrollment of 1,434 students with at 17 to 1 student teacher ratio.

  • 30 percent of students meet or exceed the standards for math proficiency.
  • 41 percent of students meet or exceed the standards for reading proficiency.
  • 80 percent graduation rate.

Apollo scored in the 78th national percentile when when it came to college level exams.

Tech scored in the 13.9th percentile for comprehensive assessment tests. When it came to underserved students, they scored in the 6.8th percentile. The school meets expectations when it comes to Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment scores.
