(KNSI) - Two barns were destroyed in a fire in Maine Prarie Township on Saturday.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, at about 6:15 p.m., they were called to the home on the 16000 block of 66th Avenue. When they arrived, they say two barns were on fire. One was already completely destroyed. The other was fully engulfed.
The owner said he had intentionally set fire to one barn because it was old and unsafe when the other one started to burn due to the intensity of the heat from the first fire.
The owner did have a burning permit for a 20 by 20 brush pile, but not for burning structures.
He was cited for burning prohibited materials.
No one was hurt.
