(KNSI) - What's more popular, cats or dogs? That's the question the Tri-County Humane Society is trying to answer with a new fundraising campaign.

The new campaign asks animal lovers to put their votes and money where their heart lies.

Money donated will benefit all the animals that TCHS cares for and help them move into their new facility.

The new shelter is located behind the current one at 735 8th Street NE in St. Cloud.

The current shelter opened in 1989, and the new one features much-needed improvements for pets and people and twice the square footage.

TCHS still needs to raise about $2 million more to pay for the project.

Those who give at least $50 through the Cats Vs. Dogs campaign will be able to have their pet's photo featured in a mosaic that will be hung in the new shelter.

"The best part about Cats Vs. Dogs is that everybody wins, including the St. Cloud community," TCHS Executive Director Vicki Davis said. "This is a friendly rivalry - everyone who votes is an animal fan."
