(KNSI) - Telehealth services will be expanded across central Minnesota.
U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith and Representative Tom Emmer made the announcement on Thursday, following the USDA's $200,000 grant awarded to CentraCare Health System.
The grant totals $234,648 and will help improve access to critical medical services through the placement of video equipment in rural communities.
"Telemedicine is an innovative and important tool to treat patients where they are, and for rural communities, it is vital," said Rep. Emmer in a press release.
The project encompasses ten clinics across nine counties throughout central Minnesota. Over two years, an estimated 2,000 patients will benefit from the expansion.
"Access to health care should not be hindered by where you choose to live."
