(KNSI) - A man suspected of driving under the influence and causing a crash that killed another driver has not been charged and has been released from jail without charges.
Jail administration says the 57-year-old suspect was released without charges pending further investigation.
The Minnesota State Patrol says Wednesday night, the man was driving a pickup truck north on Highway 15 near County 8 about two miles north of Kimball, when he hit a patch of ice, causing him to crash into an oncoming 2003 Buick Regal, killing the driver. He is being identified as 67-year-old Donald Bernard Heid of Kimball.
The alleged suspect suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was arrested at the scene.
KNSI does not name suspects until they have been formally charged.
