(KNSI) - The Minnesota Secretary of State's office says nearly 14,000 people have cast ballots this week for the upcoming presidential nomination primary.

Since no-excuse early absentee balloting began January 17th, there have been 57,273 votes cast compared to 43,928 ballots the week before. So far, the state has accepted 25,459 ballots.

There have been 49,434 DFL ballots requested, and 21,363 accepted.

So far, 7,818 Republican ballots have been requested, and 4,092 accepted. For the GOP primary, only President Donald Trump's name is listed.

Voters must declare a party when they cast a ballot.

The primary will help determine both the Democratic and Republican party candidates for the November general election.
