(KNSI) - A Stearns County jury has found a St. Cloud man guilty of murder and assault in a stabbing that occurred at the Red Carpet Nightclub in December 2019.
The jury's verdict, announced Wednesday, finds 29-year-old Lawrence Michael Johnson guilty of one felony count of second-degree murder with intent, without premeditation and one felony count of second-degree, unintentional murder while committing a felony. Johnson was also found guilty by the jury on two lesser counts of fifth-degree assault. These charges are connected to the death of 29-year-old Unity McGill.
Johnson's sentencing date has not yet been set.
Two other St. Cloud men, 28-year-old Christopher Lamar Johnson — who is Lawrence Johnson's brother — and 28-year-old Bryant Jerome Stephenson are also charged in the Red Carpet stabbing. Their cases are ongoing.
