(KNSI) - St. Cloud Representative Dan Wolgamott is excited to get down to business at the state capital.
The second-year lawmaker says he's hitting the ground running by working on getting bonding money for St. Cloud State University.
"It is good to be back at work at the people's House of Representatives, and we haven't let a single moment go to waste. Already we've been taking on tough challenges, looking at doing some repairs to buildings at St. Cloud State that are having leaky roofs and old furnaces. Students at St. Cloud State deserve to have a safe, dry, and warm learning environment."
Other work he's undertaken early on in the session has to due with transportation, but he says the session is just getting going.
"We also looked at some legislation to make transit safer so, those are a couple of things that I've been working on in my committees, but our work has just begun, and I'm expecting a really action-packed and productive legislative session."
The Democrat held about a dozen town hall meetings in Central Minnesota before the start of the session.
They covered topics like climate change, recreational marijuana legislation, affordable insulin, and bringing NorthStar to St. Cloud.
Lawmakers go back to work on Monday.
