(KNSI) - The 8th annual St. Cloud Craft Beer Tour is Saturday at the River's Edge Convention Center.
Leighton's Beverage Events Director Cole Erie says there's something new for attendees this year.
"We're doing our first-ever blind brewers cup. We're calling it in the dark. It's for stouts and porters only, limited to 14 brewers that have signed up. We'll have volunteers poring these out a kegerator, so you won't know what you're trying. You just have to pick your favorite."
Along with the Blind Brewers Cup, brewers are competing for the Brewers Cup, Best Brewery, Best Beer, and Peoples Choice. There's also an award for best Vikings themed booth.
He says there's such a variety of drinks; you're bound to fall in love with some of them.
"We're going to have over 300 different beers, ciders, and malt beverages at the event this year. Over 80 different breweries, cideries, and malt beverage companies. It's a really good showing, and we've got some new breweries that haven't been at the event before."
Even if you think you don't like craft beer, give it a shot.
"If you think that you don't like craft beer, this event for you. Now, this event is also for the connoisseur who loves craft beer, but this event is also for those who think they don't like craft beer because I challenge you that you just haven't found one that you like yet."
Designated drivers get into the event for $10, and there's a special place for them to hang out.
"We do have a designated driver booth, and they'll be set up in the event space for all of our DD, bless their hearts', to stop by, and grab a nonalcoholic beverage."
VIP tickets are sold out, but general admission tickets $35 are at are Coborn's and Cash Wise Liquor stores. $40 if you buy online and $45 at the door.
