(KNSI) - Small Business Saturday in downtown St. Cloud was a big hit with business owners and customers.
One of the busiest shops was Copper Pony, located on St. Germain Street.
Co-owner Brandon Johnson loves the support of locally owned downtown businesses.
"Small Business Saturday is an opportunity for the community to come out and support businesses like us, and our neighbors down here, we have a great community of businesses all up and down the downtown corridor."
Around 20 downtown businesses participated, offering discounts and giving customers special deals.
Johnson and his Co-owner picked up the tab for three lucky customers, one of which was more than $230.
"Her whole entire purchase had been compensated by us and that's just our way of saying thank you for supporting a small business, and Merry Christmas."
Patty Morse, from St. Cloud, has made it a tradition with her family to go shopping on Small Business Saturday.
"We love it because it's our annual get together with my daughter in-laws and we just hit the streets of small business.
Morse also said it's important to her to support local businesses because everything has become so commercialized.
More than 500,000 small businesses employ over 1 million people in Minnesota.
