Pedestrian Killed by Train Near Kandiyohi

(KNSI) - A pedestrian was fatally hit by a train Wednesday afternoon near the city of Kandiyohi.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office says officers received a report at 2:17 p.m. that a person was walking on the railroad tracks near 98th Street Northeast east of Kandiyohi and was struck by a BNSF train, which was traveling east.
Authorities found a deceased adult woman at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released. No other injuries have been reported in this event.
The KSCO says traffic was temporarily rerouted as authorities investigated the incident. The Willmar Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted KCSO at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
