Nine More Influenza Related Deaths Recorded

(KNSI) - The Minnesota Department of Health says they have recorded nine more influenza related deaths in the state, bringing the total to 25.
The latest data shows flu activity around the state is still considered widespread with 148 hospitalizations this week, including central Minnesota with 18.
27 new school outbreaks were reported this week, compared to nine last week. As for long term care centers, officials say there were 7 new outbreaks this week, compared to 6 last week.
There have been no pediatric flu related deaths. The average age at the time of death is 79.
No information was given as to whether or not those who have died were vaccinated or had an underlying health condition.
