(KNSI) - A new company is coming to St. Cloud in 2020.
Runnings will be moving into the former Shopko building in East St. Cloud.
Marketing Director Dennis Jensen stated in an email to KNSI that the store will open next fall, and plans for the store are in the works.
According to Runnings' website, the store sells home, farm, and outdoor supplies.
Runnings started in 1947 when founder Norman "Red" Running opened the first store in downtown Marshall, Minnesota.
Runnings started as an automotive supply store and were deeply rooted in selling farm and fleet supplies until the late 80s when additional product lines were added.
In 1988, a group involving Dennis and Adele Reed purchased the company.
Under the Reed's leadership, Runnings has started carrying clothing, footwear, automotive, sporting goods, farm supplies, lawn and garden, toys, housewares, tools, pet and animal supplies, and more.
This will be Runnings' 17th store in Minnesota. Runnings has 47 stores in seven states.
The closest store to St. Cloud is in Monticello.
