(KNSI) - The Minnesota Department of Health says they have gotten several reports of another coronavirus related scam floating around.

State infectious disease expert Kris Ehresmann this one is a fake "Get Out of Mask" free card posing as an official MDH certificate being used at businesses and restaurants. She says this one is especially concerning because they've heard about this type of scam before, but this is the first time someone has done this posing as an official federal agency.

She says the message is seeking to confuse people into not wearing a mask when it would be especially important to do so.

"We're particularly concerned about a section that appears to direct people that dry cough a well known symptom of COVID is a sign of micro mold in your mask and warrants its disposal."

Another, Ehresmann says, is related to contact tracing.

If you have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the Minnesota Department of Health will get a hold of you by phone, not by text. The MDH also says no one will ever ask you for your social security number, credit card numbers, bank information, or money.

She says you can report any scams to the Minnesota Attorney General's Office.
