(KNSI) - A Sauk Rapids man charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct is headed to prison.
In August 2019, 33-year-old Matthew James Pearson was accused of forcing his way into a Sauk Rapids business after it had closed and attacking a woman who worked there.
Police responded to Wash n' Tan on 2nd Avenue North after a 911 call came in from a woman screaming for help.
The victim said she had closed the business about 9:00 when Pearson arrived at the door. She said he looked like he needed help, so she let him in. That's when police say he forced her to the ground and tried to take off her clothes.
She managed to fight him off, but he was still in the building when cops arrived.
Pearson was arrested and charged with first, second, and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He pleaded guilty in November to second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Pearson was sentenced to nine years in prison.
