11:25 a.m. July 5, 2020 UPDATE:

(KNSI) - The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the man who failed to resurface while swimming Saturday at Middle Spunk Lake in Avon has died.

Deputies were called to the lake at 3:42 p.m. July 4th after 20-year-old Steven Arnaz Boose of Chicago went missing in the swimming area. A diver from the Stearns County Water Patrol found him underwater near where he was last seen.

Boose was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital, where he died at 12:54 a.m. Sunday morning.

He was in Minnesota visiting family.

The drowning remains under investigation.

(KNSI) - Some scary moments on Middle Spunk Lake in Avon Saturday.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says they were called to the lake at 3:42 p.m. Saturday for a 20-year-old man who went missing in the swimming area.

A Stearns County Sheriff's Sergeant arrived first on the scene and entered the water to try to locate the male. Additional deputies, Avon Police and Avon Fire and Rescue arrived to assist.

When the Stearns County Water Patrol arrived on the scene, a diver entered the water near where the man was last seen, and a short time later, the diver surfaced with the man who was brought to shore. Lifesaving efforts were attempted, and the man was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital, where he remained in critical condition.
