(KNSI) – The numbers are in from last week’s Jolly Trolley, and the fundraiser for local food shelves set a new record.
St. Cloud Metro Bus parked a bus at several area grocery stores and collected food and cash for Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, and the Promise Neighborhood.
Metro Bus Marketing Communications Manager Nate Ramacher says they collected more than 1,400 pounds of food and $2,900.
“The $2900 we collected was a new record for us beating our old record by more than $300, and that’s great because the food shelves have three to five times as much buying power per dollar as you or I have in the stores.”
He says it’s a great way to give back to the community.
“Food is such a basic need for folks, so we help them with that this time of year. If they have nothing oh their table we give them something if we can help them by providing them with food so they need food so they can buy their kids presents great.”
This was the 9th year for the Jolly Trolley.
