(KNSI) - Volunteers took time on Thursday to help out at dozens of projects around the St. Cloud area during the 31st Annual United Way of Central Minnesota Day of Caring.
KNSI caught up with Kelly from St. Augusta as she was helping to paint at the future home of the Great River Children's Museum.
"I know my kids are going to want to come to visit here eventually and it will be nice to say I helped paint that room or show them what we did and help them. I do enjoy it, and it's a fun way to get out and help the community."
Officials with the children's museum say they hope to have the room open in November. It will take about two years before the children's museum will be completely renovated.
Glen Palm is the Chairman of the children's museum board and says the ten volunteers were a great help.
"Getting this mass of people to come out and do the job is great, it's a wonderful boast for us."
Workers from PCI, Toppan Merrill, and Safelite were volunteering at the museum.
The group was among the 550 volunteers working at 67 projects across the area on Thursday.
