(KNSI) - A group of Minnesota high-school student-athletes is taking matters into their own hands, delivering a letter directly to Governor Tim Walz, asking the governor to let them play.

Due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the Minnesota State High School League has eliminated state tournaments for fall sports. Opponents to MSHSL’s restrictions over crowd size limitations have argued that the outdoor spectator limits that have been enacted by the state on high school sports are more stringent than guidelines set by the Minnesota Department of Health.

On Saturday, student-athletes from across the state plan to deliver a letter requesting the governor revisit these limitations directly to the governor’s mansion. These athletes have put together petitions of their own and have been working with the organization Let Them Play MN to gather signatures.
