(KNSI) - An area organization has increased its dollar for dollar match to three area food shelves for the second time.

The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation have increased their contribution to $200,000.

Earlier this month the foundation upped thier match from $100,000 to $150,000, to Catholic Charities, the St. Cloud Salvation Army and St. Joseph food shelves.

“The increase in matching dollars from the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation combined with the donations already received has the potential of creating nearly $700,000 for these three food shelves in our community provided local donors continue to support the effort. We encourage those who have not given to take advantage of being a part of this amazing opportunity to fill our food shelves this winter,” said Caryl Turnow, Executive Director at the Central Minnesota Community Foundation.

Last year the annual Charity Challenge brought in a record $468,673.

Donations for the Charity Challenge need to be received by December 31st.

Since 2001, the event has raised more than $3.1 million for local food shelves.
