Fire at Northern Metals Recycling In Becker Out

(KNSI) – Authorities say the Northern Metals Recycling fire in Becker is out.
Private firefighters hired by the company are expected to leave the site Sunday morning.
Investigators with the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency continues to monitor the area around the ambient air for the particulate matter at four locations near the recycling plant.
Officials have been testing the air around Becker, and Big Lake since the fire started on Tuesday morning.
At no time did officials detect harmful levels of chemicals or metals in the air.
MPCA staff will continue to monitor the site.
