(KNSI) - Elementary schools in the St. Cloud Area School District are inviting all veterans, their families, and military personnel to any one of six Veterans Day programs.
Mike Rivard is the principal at Oak Hill Elementary, and he's inviting all vets to come to their service.
"We really want to extend to everyone a warm welcome and a warm invitation to our special observance for Veterans Day, especially the veterans currently serving in our military."
Oak Hill Elementary has been doing a program for 20 years. They usually get between 100 and 150 vets out for the event.
"It is a celebration of all the veterans in our community. Especially those that served and died for our country" said Rivard. He also talked about what will take place during the 40-minute ceremony.
"The speakers this year are four of our students who do talk about what the flag means to them. And we also spend time talking about individual branches of service."
He says they'll call each branch of the service out and recognize the vets in attendance that have served.
Rivard also talked about one of his favorite parts of the service.
"One of the most moving parts of our celebration is when our color guard spends time folding the flag, and we talk about what each fold in the flag means to us as citizens in our country as we celebrate and honor our veterans."
All the programs are on Monday morning, which is Veterans Day.
Each school will pay tribute to veterans in their unique way.
