(KNSI) - People who need a COVID-19 test now have another place to go.
Walmart St. Cloud is opening a drive-through testing site, supported by Walmart and Quest Diagnostics.
State and local officials will test adults who meet the Centers for Disease Control guidelines for who should get tested. That includes first responders, healthcare providers, and others with symptoms of COVID-19 and those who are asymptomatic but are in high-risk groups.
Testing is not available inside the Walmart store itself.
Lisa Nelson, Walmart Public Affairs Director for Minnesota, says, “Walmart is part of the community, and we are proud to help support the expansion of COVID-19 testing in St. Cloud during this unprecedented time. We are grateful to our associates who keep our stores running, our pharmacists who support these testing sites, and to Quest Diagnostics and local officials as we work together to open the site and help our community.”
Testing hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays weekly from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., weather permitting. Those who get tested must be 18 years of age and older.
Anyone wanting to get tested must make an appointment through Quest’s MyQuestTM online portal, which will screen and schedule appointments for those individuals that meet medical eligibility. Find that portal by clicking here. Those being tested will need to wear a mask and stay in their cars for verification of eligibility criteria, ID check, and the self-administered test. For safety purposes, walk up testing is not allowed.
The site will use a self-administered nasal swab test that will allow those being tested to swab their own nose while in their vehicles, observed by a trained medical volunteer to ensure the sample is taken correctly, and drop the sealed sample into a container on their way out.
Quest Diagnostics will handle processing test samples and communicating results to those tested and applicable departments of health.
Any questions regarding testing and appointments, please call Quest’s dedicated COVID-19 line at 866-448-7719, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
While individuals who are tested are awaiting results, please follow CDC guidelines and take steps to help prevent the virus from spreading to people in your home and community.
CVS Pharmacy is also offering drive-through COVID-19 testing at ten sites across the state, including St. Cloud. Tests are by appointment only.
