(KNSI) - Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm said in a call Monday that 31 elder care facilities across Minnesota now have "outbreaks" of COVID-19.
Malcolm explained, "we consider even one case in this congregate care setting to trigger an escalated response."
According to the commissioner, they are counting facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and memory care in these numbers.
As of Monday, the MDH reported 576 total cases in Minnesota, with the oldest case being 104-years-old. KNSI has reached out to the MDH to get a count of cases in elder care facilities, but at this time has not heard back.
