(KNSI) - The City of Sauk Rapids is getting ready to welcome winter with its annual Parade of Lights and Family Fun Day Saturday, December 7.

The Sauk Rapids Fire Department will start the day with a Toys for Tots Toy Drive from 10 to 2 at the fire hall. They are also collecting toys along the parade route that night.

Family Fun Day starts at 11 a.m. at the Sauk Rapids VFW.

Kids bingo is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be hot dogs, pop, and snacks available to purchase.

After Santa calls the last game of bingo, he and Mrs. Claus will be listening to Christmas wishes and handing out goodie bags until 3:30 p.m.

The silent auction is 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a wide variety of fabulous Silent Auction items will be available for bidding. Proceeds will go to the Sauk Rapids Community Ambassador Program.

Also on Saturday is the annual Trot for Tots 5K. Runners pay no registration fee if they bring a new, unwrapped child's toy. The 5K begins at 3:00 at the Sauk Rapids Fire Department.

The big Holiday Parade of Lights gets rolling at 5:00. The parade goes down 2nd Avenue through downtown Sauk Rapids.

There is also a steak fry and meat raffle from 5:00 to 8:00 with the Sauk Rapids Lions Club. Tickets are $13 at the door.

St. Cloud's winter fun includes the hospital lighting ceremony on December 5 and the Wienachtsmarkt and Winter Nights and Lights Parade December 14.

The community tree lighting took place at the River's Edge Convention Center November 30th.
