(KNSI) - Parents can take their young kids to an event this weekend to burn off some pent up energy after a recent cold snap.
The ABC Kinder Olympix takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Whitney Recreational Center in St. Cloud.
St. Cloud Park and Recreations Lynn Neumann says the event has two goals.
"The main element is the early learning early literacy piece of the event, and then also getting them active, getting them out running around. Our goal is giving families an opportunity to get out and have some kids run around and burn off some energy because it's so cold you can't really get outside. The ABC part really brings in the exploring of the letters and numbers for those kids to give them a little emphasis on learning."
The fun is geared for kids in kindergarten and younger.
The ABC Kinder Olympix has been going on for several years, but officials work to make sure a little changes every year to keep kids' interests.
"We always change up the games, and the alphabet games and activities. So those are always different. We always have the inflatables. We have a different art and craft every year. So, they won't have to have done something this year that they did last year."
Events include, inflatables, arts and crafts, obstacle course, alphabet games, healthy snacks and much more. Around 300 kids come out for the event each year.
The cost to get in is $3 for families or $2 per child. You will get a dollar off the price with a donation of a non-perishable item for the food shelf.
