(KNSI) - The Minnesota Department of Health says the five county central Minnesota area saw an increase of 42 new COVID-19 cases Friday.

  • Benton County saw two new cases and no new deaths for 212 cases and three deaths
  • Morrison County saw no new cases Friday for 59 cases and one death
  • Sherburne County saw four new cases for 303 cases and five deaths
  • Stearns County saw the most significant increase Friday at 33 for 2,312 cases and 19 deaths
  • Wright County saw three new cases for 453 cases and five cases


  • 645,172 total tests (+14,657 from Thursday)
  • 37,624 total cases (+423 from Thursday)
  • 9 cases removed from previous count. Cases are removed for several reasons including false positives, duplication and residence in another state.
  • 1,466 deaths (+8 from Thursday)
  • 1,150 deaths in long term care or assisted living facilities
  • 4,139 total hospitalizations (+27 from Thursday)
  • 270 are still hospitalized (-4 from Thursday)
  • 132 of those are in the ICU (+9 from Thursday)
  • 32,347 patients are recovering and out of isolation (+184 from Thursday)
