(KNSI) - An 18-year-old woman accused of leading police on a wild chase from Becker to St. Cloud has been formally charged.
According to investigators, just before 10:30 Sunday night, they got a driving complaint about a vehicle on Highway 10. An officer spotted the truck, allegedly stolen out of Burnsville and driven by Angelina Gatto, and said the driver was weaving and having difficulty staying in their lane.
When the officer tried to pull Gatto over, they say she took off and tried to run from the police.
The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit, as did the Minnesota State Patrol and the St. Cloud Police Department.
Police used stop sticks to deflate the truck's tires, and Gatto was attempting to enter a neighborhood off Highway 10. Police were able to catch up and used a pursuit intervention technique or a PIT maneuver. The truck came to a rest near the intersection of Oak Street and 15th Avenue Southeast in St. Cloud.
Gatto, of Blaine, was checked out by medical personnel before being arrested and taken to the Sherburne County jail.
Gatto is charged with felony vehicle theft, felony fleeing, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Her next court date is October 5th.
