(KNSI) – A house in rural Meeker County sustained minimal damage after a child apparently turned on a stove, igniting boxes that were stored on top of it.
The Litchfield Fire Department and the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a house fire around 8:30 Thursday morning in Ellsworth Township.
Authorities learned that a secondary kitchen was in the lower level of the home, and boxes were stored on top of the unused stove. Authorities believe a child turned on the stovetop, starting the fire that was contained to the stove and cabinets above it. No one was injured, and authorities say the damage was minimal. The Litchfield Fire Department put out the blaze.
