(KNSI) – The Sartell Community Center will be hosting a new family fun event in June.

‘Swing into Summer’ will feature mini-golf, live music, dancing, and vendor food. The events are slated from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Engagement specialist for the City of Sartell Nikki Sweeter says the idea started to make sure families could have something to do in the summer.

“What is something we can have out here that we can make a regular thing that families can do, and mini-golf just kind of came to mind? And there’s not a lot of mini-golf options in this area.”

Sartell’s Public Works department created the nine-hole mini-golf course on the grounds of the Sartell Community Center next to Lake Francis.

Sweeter says she recently had a chance to test out the course, and it was a lot of fun.

“They have little obstacles on each hole. So there’s different levels of difficulty. But really, any age could do it. It’s there. They’re not super complicated.”

Along with the golf, live music will be performed on the outdoor stage by the edge of Lake Francis next to the community center. The music sessions will take place from 6:30-8 p.m.

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

All are invited to attend the free outdoor activities presented by the Sartell-St. Stephen Community Education program in conjunction with the City of Sartell and donations from at least a dozen local businesses.
