(KNSI) – A 62-year-old Waite Park man is in the Stearns County jail and charged with second-degree burglary after he allegedly broke into and ransacked an apartment Tuesday evening.
According to the criminal complaint, a man said as he arrived home at about 8:00, he saw another man, identified as James Semrad, coming out of his apartment. He said he yelled at Semrad, who then took his walker and threw it across the yard.
The man told police Semrad stole a Trump flag he had hanging in the front window of his apartment. Semrad said he saw an anti-Joe Biden sign, and that’s why he went into the apartment and trashed it.
According to the criminal complaint, an officer went into the apartment; the inside was “completely ransacked,” with everything being knocked over or strewn about.
Semrad allegedly asked police to close the front door of his apartment, where an officer spotted the Trump flag on the floor.
Semrad has been charged with felony second-degree burglary.
