(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health reports 1,921 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths statewide Thursday. The death count includes two people from Wright County, one in their 70s and one in their 90s.
The five-county St. Cloud area reports 243 new cases: Benton County 15, Morrison County 10, Sherburne County 62, Stearns County 84 and Wright County 72.
The state processed nearly 50,000 COVID tests on Wednesday, and 3.9 percent came back positive. In Minnesota’s hospitals, 644 people are hospitalized due to COVID.
As for vaccines, the state has now crossed the threshold of 2.5 million people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Those vaccine recipients account for 56.4 percent of residents 16 and older and 45.1 percent o the state’s total population. Minnesota has also administered 1,376,174 vaccine doses during the month of April, exceeding the number of vaccine doses distributed in March.
