(KNSI) – Avon-based Blattner Company’s energy division has reached a milestone of producing 50,000 megawatts from renewable energy sources like solar and wind. Communications director Christine Huston says the path to generating this much energy from renewables has been in the works since 1997.
“We are estimating the completion of the next 50,000 megawatts to take place in a quarter of the time it took us to achieve the first 50,” Huston said. “Fifty thousand renewable energy megawatts is equivalent to about 14 million U.S. households, which is based on their annual consumption.”
That energy stems from more than 25,000 wind turbines and nearly 32 million solar modules, according to the company. Blattner operations more than 400 energy projects in multiple states and in Canada.
“It’s been years in the making, and getting to this point was a big milestone for the company but even more so for our employees and all the hard work that they’ve put in to get to this point,” Huston said.
