(KNSI) — Grab the growler and clear the calendar, because Minnesota Beer Day is back for round three.

The celebration is set for Sunday, November 1st, to shake off the candy hangover.

The day became official in 2024, when the Minnesota House and Senate passed resolutions making November 1st Minnesota Beer Day.

The date honors Minnesota’s most historic brand. Grain Belt’s story began on November 1st, 1850, when John Orth founded the territory’s second brewery. Today, Grain Belt is brewed by the state’s oldest brewery, Schell’s Brewery.

The Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, which represents more than 130 Minnesota craft breweries, worked with Rockville area Senator Jeff Howe and Representative Isa Perez-Vega to pass the resolutions in their respective chambers. It’s rare for the House and Senate to pour over the same thing and agree, but here we are.

“Too often, the citizens of Minnesota forget that this truly is a Beer State,” says Bob Galligan, Director of Government and Industry Relations at the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild. “MN Beer Day offers an opportunity for connection across the industry and the state—a day for beer lovers everywhere to go out, celebrate, and support their local taproom, brewpubs, bars, restaurants, and liquor stores.”

The Guild has also coordinated a special commemorative pint glass, sold at participating breweries and brewpubs across the state. It’s a brew-tiful keepsake. Locally, Bad Habit Brewing in St. Joseph is getting in on the fun.

Many Guild members are pouring on the perks with special discounts, brewery tours, events, and even one-of-a-kind brews. A map of all the participants and their deals is available online by clicking here.
