(KNSI) — Two St. Cloud police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday night when their squad cars crashed.
St. Cloud police say the officers were responding to an emergency call at 5:44 p.m. on October 20th when the crash happened at the intersection of 12th Avenue South and Highway 23. Both officers were taken to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
The Minnesota State Patrol says one officer was driving westbound on 1st Street South when another officer turned onto westbound 1st Street South from 12th Avenue South, and the two collided. The State Patrol says airbags deployed in both vehicles, and both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The intersection was closed for a period of time for investigation and cleanup, but has since reopened.
