(KNSI) – That chill in the air means more than leaves turning. It’s a hint of the danger to come for some. Pastor John Gabrielson of Atonement Lutheran Church says, “This time of year the big concern is the overnight sheltering, emergency sheltering in the winter because people can’t just sleep out in a tent.”
Faith in Housing, a coalition of faith groups in the St. Cloud area that works to end homelessness, is holding a Central Minnesota Summit on Homelessness. The summit aims to learn about the progress made in addressing homelessness, the current priorities and the remaining unmet needs, and to receive educational information about homelessness. The missions and plans of the shelters in Central Minnesota and ways to support them are on the agenda, too.
Participants will hear from representatives from CentraCare, Central Minnesota Housing Partnership BCI Construction, School District 742 and the Central Minnesota Council on Aging. These groups will share perspectives on the impact of homelessness across healthcare, business, senior services and education.
The Summit runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, October 20th, at Atonement Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Learn more and register for this free event here.
