(KNSI) – Dave’s Hot Chicken has set a date to open its first St. Cloud-area restaurant.

Franchise co-owner Alex Humphries tells KNSI News the Nashville-style chicken chain is targeting October 23rd for the grand opening of its new location at Rivertown Village Shopping Center, 3959 2nd Street South, Suite 214.

As part of the celebration, the first 100 guests will receive free slider cards to use on a future visit, along with aluminum Dave’s Hot Chicken memorabilia cups.

The roughly 2,600-square-foot end-cap space was once home to a GAP store and had sat vacant for years.

Humphries has said St. Cloud fits into his broader expansion strategy, calling it a strong regional center with a growing population, a vibrant retail corridor and the ability to draw guests from around the region.

Humphries first told KNSI in May of 2024 that he planned to open 16 Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants across Minnesota over several years, including one in St. Cloud. He and his partners now operate eight in the state, with openings still planned in Oak Park Heights and Mankato.

The California-based chain says it has more than 390 locations across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Middle East.

Humphries held a stake in the St. Cloud Five Guys but sold his interest in April of 2024 to focus on the new venture.
