(KNSI) — There is a large police presence in the 400 block of 1st Avenue Northeast in St. Joseph, where the Stearns-Benton SWAT team is trying to arrest a man.
Authorities say sometime on Wednesday, the man forced his way into a home and assaulted someone with an axe. Officers have been on scene for several hours, and authorities say when they made contact, the man threatened them with the axe.
The sheriff’s office is asking the public to stay out of the area.
