(KNSI) – A Rice man was hurt on Friday when he was thrown from an ATV and hit his head on a steel pole in Morrison County.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Deputies were called shortly before 6:00 p.m. to a home off Hawthorne Road in Belle Prairie Township, roughly three miles east of Little Falls.

According to a press release, a 29-year-old Albany man was driving the ATV with 26-year-old Logan Gerads. The ATV hit a bump, throwing Gerads from the machine, and he struck his head on a steel pole in the yard.

Mayo Clinic Ambulance took Gerads to St. Gabriel’s Hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.
