(KNSI) — A 66-year-old Minneapolis man is dead after a motorcycle and minivan collided in Minden Township.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says it received the report of the crash at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, October 4th, at the intersection of 35th Avenue Southeast and 2nd Street Southeast. Deputies found the motorcycle driver, 66-year-old Mark Skanes Cady, with life-threatening injuries. Life-saving measures were taken at the scene, but he died.
The 46-year-old driver of the other vehicle, a 2016 Honda Odyssey, is and his five passengers were not seriously hurt.
Deputies say Cady’s 2022 BMW motorcycle was heading south on 35th Avenue Southeast, where traffic has a stop sign at the intersection. The Honda was heading west on 2nd Street Southeast. Investigators say evidence shows the front of the Honda struck the motorcycle broadside in the intersection. Witnesses tell deputies Cady failed to stop at the stop sign and drove in front of the Honda just before the crash.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.
