(KNSI) – Fans heading into Joe Faber Field next summer could be walking on brand-new floors, with the St. Cloud Rox picking up half the tab.

The St. Cloud City Council will vote Monday on accepting a $20,550 donation from the Rox to put commercial epoxy flooring in the Faber Stadium lobby and restrooms at the Municipal Athletic Complex. The city would cover the other half, bringing the total project cost to $41,100.

The work has to happen this fall, and the stadium’s schedule is the reason why. The ballpark isn’t heated, so in the spring the floors are still too cold and thawing out for the epoxy to go down. By the time the weather breaks, the baseball season is ramping up, and once summer arrives the building is in constant use with no time to shut it down for the project.

The city’s share would come from food and beverage tax money that wasn’t set aside in this year’s budget. The Finance Department says there’s enough in that fund to cover it. If the council signs off, a Rox funding request already included in the city’s proposed 2027 budget for the athletic complex would be dropped.

City staff collected two bids and are recommending Garage-Tech Xtreme, which came in at $41,100. The other bid, from Polished Concrete Plus, was $46,256.

The council meets Monday, October 5th, at 6:00 p.m.
