(KNSI) – Family and supporters are raising money for a St. Cloud Tech High School student who is in intensive care after suffering a stroke earlier this month.
Aaron Dorboryan, a junior on the Tech boys varsity soccer team, had a stroke on Wednesday, September 9th, that led to serious medical complications. He is being treated in the intensive care unit at Children’s Minnesota hospital and faces a long recovery.
An online fundraiser set up for the family says the money will help cover Dorboryan’s medical bills, along with travel, lodging and lost income while his family stays with him at the hospital.
According to his GoFundMe page, Dorboryan worked his way up through the Tech soccer program, playing on the ninth-grade team as a freshman and junior varsity as a sophomore before making varsity this fall. He has also played club soccer with the Central Minnesota Youth Soccer Association.
Organizers describe him as a versatile athlete and a calm, steady leader whose absence is being felt by his teammates.
Supporters are also being asked to share the fundraiser and keep the family in their thoughts.
