(KNSI) – Human trafficking is a problem that can live on in our community without many knowing it even exists. For victims to know that someone cares that they exist is crucial.
Noelle Volin, Executive Director of Terebinth Refuge, stresses that building a positive peer group around our children can be a good defense against trafficking, saying, “When kids have a good support network in their parents, their coaches, their teachers, their youth pastors, their peers, they’re less vulnerable. Their risk is a lot lower because they have somebody to turn to.”
Terebinth Refuge strives to bring hope, healing, and freedom to those who have been harmed by sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, and create safer communities where this harm doesn’t happen in the first place. The organization’s annual fundraising breakfast is Thursday, September 10th, at the Park Event Center in Waite Park.
