(KNSI) – It’s on to the big time for Greta the alpaca. Greta and her handler, Monica Schlough from the Central Minnesota Llama Club are headed to the Minnesota State Fair.

Greta is half llama and half alpaca. Monica really enjoys working with the animals, saying “Llamas will always have a special place in my heart. They are so sensitive to emotions and the bond you build with them is so strong.” She says it’s the same with her club, too, “We’re all a group. We all help each other and it’s really great.”

Llamas are judged on showmanship, an obstacle course and public relations. Monica has been showing animals for ten years. This will be Monica and Greta’s third year in a row at the fair. In addition to showing Greta, Monica will be showing sheep in open class judging.

Step right up and see the llama lineup and other state fair happenings here.
