(KNSI) – Drivers across St. Cloud will start running into work zones Monday as the city begins a preventative maintenance project touching more than 100 road segments.

The work is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.

Crews will be applying Reclamite, an asphalt rejuvenator that is sprayed onto the pavement. The product helps guard against air and water. Sun and weather dry out that fraction of the asphalt over time, leaving pavement brittle and prone to cracking. The treatment is a preservation step meant to stretch the life of newer pavement, not a fix for badly deteriorated streets.

Treated roads will operate under lane shifts and may be intermittently narrowed to a single lane in each direction. The city says traffic will be maintained and only minor delays are expected. Motorists are asked to reduce speed and use caution both in active work areas and on freshly treated surfaces.

The city has released three location maps covering 123 numbered street segments. They stretch from the 33rd Street South and Cooper Avenue area on the south side, through the downtown and northeast core, including stretches of West Saint Germain Street, Herb Brooks Way, Division Street and Lincoln Avenue, and out to the Ridgewood Road and Veterans Drive neighborhoods on the northwest side.

The city notes the numbering on the maps does not reflect the order in which streets will be treated.
