(KNSI) – Drug overdoses claimed nearly 70-thousand lives in the U.S. in 2025. One part of the effort to reduce that number is Overdose Awareness Day, coming up August 31.

The St. Cloud VA has several events scheduled. Marcia Lindberg, Registered Nurse with the St. Cloud VA pain clinic, told KNSI what can be learned, “You will learn how to detect an overdose and how to respond to an overdose. We’ll give you knowledge on the immediate actions to take during an overdose event. We’ll teach you a step-by-step guide on how to properly use naloxone in an overdose situation, potentially saving a life, and also the importance of fentanyl test strips.”

The upcoming events are scheduled for August 25th at the Alexandria Clinic VA clinic, August 26th at the St. Cloud VA clinic, and on August 27th the Brainerd VA. Find out more about overdose awareness here.
