(KNSI) — Stearns County recorded its highest primary election turnout in more than 20 years during Tuesday’s primary, according to county officials.
The county reports an overall turnout of 26.5%, up from about 23% in each of the last two primaries in 2022 and 2018. In-person turnout on Election Day was the strongest the county has seen in more than two decades, and absentee voting also reached its highest level in recent primaries.
Nearly 28,000 of the county’s registered voters cast ballots.
According to Stearns County officials, Election Day ran without any reported incidents across precincts, and voting equipment operated on time when polls opened at 7:00 a.m.
