Minnesota Department of Agriculture Seeks Public Input on Next State Budget

(KNSI) — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is gathering ideas as it plans for the state’s next two-year budget. Farmers, businesses, and others affected by food and agriculture systems are invited to share suggestions on policy, funding, and programs.

The MDA is hosting two virtual public input sessions where people can share ideas directly. The sessions supplement an online form for written submissions, which opens today and runs through September 18th.

Both meetings take place on Zoom. Participation is free, but registration is required. The sessions are scheduled for:

The Minnesota Legislature appropriates funds for the MDA and related agricultural activities through a two-year budget bill that is part of the state’s overall government funding.

State budgets are set in legislative sessions held in odd-numbered years and are sometimes revised during sessions in even-numbered years. The next legislative session begins January 12th, 2027, and will determine the next two-year state budget.
